Check our Facebook Page for daily picking conditions, or call 304-263-1168. Picking conditions change frequently, especially on busy days, and we try to communicate as thoroughly as possible about how the crops are that day.
“The early bird gets the worm.” We’ve all heard that saying and it’s definitely true of pick-your-own crops. Try to come early in the day for the best availability and cooler temperatures.
Wear sunscreen, sun hats, and protective gear.
Wear comfortable, safe shoes for grassy areas. Waterproof footwear can be helpful after the rain, or if you are coming early in the day…right after the morning dew. Dry feet make for happier pickers!
Cool, loose, clothing is best on warm days.
Long pants or long sleeved shirts protect you from the itchiness of walking in grassy areas or reaching into berry bushes.
Check the weather before coming! Our zip code is 25403 if you look at an online weather site. We do have to evacuate the field during thunder storms and are not able to let people pick for 30 minutes after the last boom of thunder…due to lightening safety. We want to keep our guests protected.
Bring plenty of water for your group, or purchase drinks in our farm market. Sometimes the heat can catch you off guard and we want you to stay properly hydrated. Please watch over children and elderly members of your group to make sure they are not getting overheated or dehydrated.
Picnic areas are available on first come/first serve basis. Please pay for your picked fruit before picnicking as a courtesy to our farm.
Wear pest protection, as sometimes of the year there are gnats or other bugs in the area.
We provide containers for picking. However, feel free to pick in your own containers as long as we weigh them before you enter the patch! Reduce, reuse, recycle!
PLEASE leave pets at home for food safety purposes! They are not allowed in patches or food areas unless they are licensed service animals.
