Spend the Holidays at Orr’s this Year
With it officially feeling like fall over the last few days, I started to think about how different it’s going to look to here at the farm soon. We are shifting gears towards Thanksgiving and Christmas. You’ll notice as you visit us over the next few weeks, less Pumpkin bins sitting in the field across from the market. Once the Pumpkins are gone, you’ll soon see over 185 Christmas Trees lined in the field instead. Remember enjoying your BBQ Sandwich this Summer under the white band tent? Soon, we’ll take the covering off the tent, and line the frame with Christmas lights instead, making it the perfect background for your next selfie at Orr’s.
Thanksgiving doesn’t get enough credit when it comes to holidays in my opinion, which is crazy considering it’s the one holiday focused on food. Hosting can be a handful, so let us take dessert off your hands this Thanksgiving. In 2023 we made over 1,000 pies that were served over dinner tables from West Virginia to Florida, maybe further. When you start to think about your dessert list this year, consider Orr’s for your pies, cake rolls, dessert breads, and more. Though it is a lot of prep work and long days around Thanksgiving here on the farm, it makes it just a touch easier knowing we are being a part of so many families Thanksgiving celebration.
Our Hot Cocoa Booth will soon be taking over our food truck AKA “The Truck Stop.” It will open up on Fridays and Saturdays starting on November 22nd and be open until the end of the year. The hours will be Fridays & Saturdays from 10:30am-6:30pm. Stop by any time during these hours for a cup of homemade hot cocoa that is truly delicious! We have 8 decadent flavors such as Chocolate Diva, and Peanut Butter Bliss. Once you’ve got your cocoa, hang around one of the campfires we’ve got going to stay warm while you relax in our lawn chairs.
We started selling cut Christmas trees in 2019, selling just 45 trees that first year. We sold out in only 7 days that year! Each year since, we have increased our number of trees for sale. We usually source 100% of our trees and greenery from a West Virginia farmer. However, this year our usual tree supplier had an unfortunate loss of his tree harvest with the state drought conditions we’ve experienced. We were able to secure another supplier from Ohio. We will have Fresh Cut Christmas Trees for sale on November 20th, 2024, until we sellout which is usually in December. The varieties are: Fraser, Douglas, Balsum, and Blue Spruce. Along with your fresh Christmas tree from Orr’s this year, you can also get fresh greenery! We’ll have a large selection of wreaths, roping, gravestone crosses, and greenery candy canes. Consider shopping local for not only your Christmas Tree this season, but also for some of your gifts. We make custom gift baskets with, or without fruit. We have a wide variety of men’s, women’s, and children’s gift ideas, and stocking stuffers. Come see us this holiday season!
