Get Creative with some Healthy Halloween Ideas

Apples

Don’t lose that summer body you worked so hard for now that fall is here! Sure, we can agree that covering up in sweatshirts and sweaters can be more comfortable, but that doesn’t mean that you have to gain any extra pounds in the process. Here are some great ideas for some healthy Halloween party alternatives.

Caramel apples are a great way to bring in the Halloween season.  With the sweetness of the caramel on the outside, the tart of the apple on the inside makes this sweet treat that much better, while still including fruit! Check out our Harvest Apple Bin Specials to see what’s in our market.

Popcorn also makes a nice alternative to other salty snacks like chips. Popcorn is not only less in calories, but you can easily make it at home. We also carry fresh, locally made popcorn in our market in case you don’t feel like making some.

Fight off the urge for candy with a healthy smoothie instead! Smoothies are great on-the-go filling snacks or meals that keep you full and can include lots of fruits and vegetables, like apples and pumpkin, that are great this time of year.

Dip, dip, dip! Get your protein and healthy food in by dipping some of your favorites in peanut butter or hummus! Bananas, apples and celery all go great with some smooth or crunchy peanut butter (or almond butter too). Or if you aren’t into sweet fruits, veggies like broccoli and carrots pair well in hummus.

At Orr’s, we’ve for your fresh produce and are always looking to keep you and your family healthy. Information about our produce can be found on our website, or stop into the market Monday through Saturday from 8 am to 6 pm and on Sundays from 10 am to 4 pm. We look forward to seeing you on the farm!
