Third Year IPM Program in WV

We are now entering our third year in the NRCS-EQIP program. This program takes IPM to the extreme and offers financial assistance to orchards who are willing to go the extra mile.We currently have over 755 acres inrolled in this program. Thi program relies on mating disruption for control of pests on apple and peach orchards. IPM manager Phil Bolyard is responsible for monitoring all blocks for pest and bacteria weekly. With the monitoring schedule we only apply chemicals when there is a direct threat rather than applying them on a schedues basis. This significantly reduces the amount chemicals applied.
